Actually, I didn't have to go out of the house the whole day, but my mum made me because she wanted me to go out and buy some exercise books, biology, eh-hum. So then I reluctantly went out and felt grateful she forced me to only when I discovered a really really good book. Lemme tell you the details of it.
There was a boy, who grew up in a poor family, parents were uneducated, father was a builder with a very bad temper, mother was a housewife who was very weak. He originally had a sister, but because the family was too poor, so they gave the sister away to their aunt. His brother was his mentor and buddy, who exceled in all academic areas. The boy, on the other hand, was very poor academically, but he was a natural in sports, especially in cross-country. His brother knew he wanted to be an athelete, so he supported him in every way. The boy's nickname was ็‹—ไป”. He had a very boy-ish face, and a warm smile, out-going personality and was very optimisstic. Although he was very poor in academic work, the teachers never seemed to dislike him, they even liked him, because he was ever so happy and sunny. He was a natural athelete and had been winning awards ever since primary school. Once, during an inter-school competition, he found that his knees were hurt very badly. The doctor advised him to do a surgery, and will never be able to run again, or to choose to heal by himself, although the chances were very very little. He took the little minor chance, and followed the doctor's advice to practise swimming. He did so, and soon he was the champion swimmer. But then, sickness defeated him again and was told that he was never to swim again. He went right down. He was made for an athlete, his school work had never been good. And now, he could do nothing. Right at this time, his girlfriend told him she was to go to England tomorrow. This sudden shock really threw him off his feet. Months later, his brother earned a scholarship and was to go to USA too. All at once, his beloved people left him. That was when he was F5. Cert. exam. He got 0 marks. There was nothing he could do. One day he saw the army recruiting new members (that was before 1997) and decided to try for it. After a few rounds of tough fitness tests, he was promoted to the interview. He knew only 5 English words, and was very humiliated when he went out of the interview room. Thinking he'd fried it, he went to Church to cry it out. Someone helped him and taught him 4 words, "I like army life." As simple as that. With the sentence and his sincere attitude, he got in. A few years later, he was even in university.
This was a true story. And a very touching one too. A person, who had fallen for so many times, could stand up again, and walk the rest of the road with splendour. Knowing only 5 English words, to using English to write his university homework, this shows that you can stand up at any time after you've fallen down. It's possible.
I wish I had the perseverance like the boy. To be able to carry on no matter what.
