NBA Finals 2001: Game 2
Lakers won 76ers!!
Forget sweeps. Forget domination. We have a series developing here. Behind a combined 59 points from Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant, the Lakers tied the NBA Finals at 1-1 with a 98-89 win on Friday. O'Neal was impressive all-around, posting 28 points, 20 rebounds, nine assists and eight blocks for Los Angeles, which will aim for the series lead Sunday in Philadelphia.
Shaquille O'Neal was at his best, Kobe Bryant returned to form and the Los Angeles Lakers built a big enough lead to hold off the no-quit Philadelphia 76ers.
O'Neal had 28 points, 20 rebounds, nine assists and tied the NBA Finals record for blocks with eight as the Lakers evened the series at one game apiece with a 98-89 victory Friday night.
Bryant had 31 points, eight rebounds and six assists -- as well as an earful of trash talk from Allen Iverson in the final seconds.
